I am a lawyer living in London and wanted to begin learning Polish as my husband is Polish. A tutor from Parlingua comes to my house – this was the only way I could have done any classes as work commitments are so unpredictable during weekday evenings and Hanna, the tutor, has always been very flexible about the time of the class.
I was learning Polish with no prior knowledge and Hanna has been fantastic. The one-to-one aspect of the classes, at a very decent price, ensures I learn as much as possible in the time available and have plenty of opportunity to speak. Hanna is an extremely positive encouraging teacher and full of energy so that not matter how long my week has been I genuinely always enjoy the classes and feel energised and positive at the end of them. My learning is really progressing, I am enjoying the classes and am looking forward to improving my Polish. So far so good - my husband and mother-in-law are impressed!
I really cannot recommend Parlingua highly enough.
Growing up in a Polish family understanding Polish fluently, I never actually spoke the language, so Hanna has tailored her expert teaching to these specific needs. As a result, my speaking and reading of this challenging language has improved greatly. Interestingly, her professionalism and ambition for my success has motivated me to study more at home, which in turn is increasing my progress still further. I happily recommend Hanna.
I am freelance and have having one to one French tuition with Parlingua. I visit Paris a great deal and wanted Parlingua to help me build upon my extremely limited French vocabulary. As I work from home a great deal, as well as working long hours in the theatre - the home tuition hours really suit me. Parlingua are very flexible with the hours and can also accommodate any last minute changes to your schedule. I am unable to attend group session so the one on one is ideal for me and I believe I get much more out of it.An hour with Parlingua always feels like two as so much is packed into a session, but not so that one feels overwhelmed. The sessions move at a speed that suits you and at the outset, Parlingua discuss your personal goals, what it is you want from the course and tailor the sessions to realistically meet these goals. It's quite nerve-wrecking learning a language as an adult.
One often feels self conscious, but Parlingua make the lessons fun and work help dispel your anxieties and fear. An early break through for me was when my tutor told me to relax and embrace the language, that I was not to worry about making mistakes, as this is how we learn. Simple stuff, but sometimes easily forgotten.
My tutor is always very clear about what we will cover per session and what we will work towards in our next. There is a great emphasis on constantly speaking aloud in French and battling on to make ourselves understood. The homework builds upon what was covered in the session and also prepares you for the next session. Using the BBC French Experience program, the sessions cover speaking aloud as well as learning to understanding the written word. This is a really good course, clear, practical and a steady and continuous progress is confidently made.
